Coach Damon Floyd

Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?

A. We have 17 returning starters, so our team is experienced.

Q. What will be the keys to your success?

A. We have to compete at the highest level week in and week out.

Q. Who will be your key leaders on the team?

Bradley.StatsA. We have 23 seniors who all need to continue to take on leadership roles.

Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?

A. Because of the schedule we’ve played over the past two seasons, our guys have experienced a lot of big moments against some of the top teams in the state.

Q. What will keep you up at night?

A.  We have to make sure we stay healthy and injury-free.

Q. What can you build on from last year?

A.  We had some success last year because our guys had great attitudes and relentless work ethic. We need to keep that mindset in order to be successful.

Q. Any lessons learned from last year?

A.  In coaching, there are lessons you learn all the time. Every team is different.

Q. Will we see anything different this year?

A. Offensively, we have to do some different things because of our new quarterback, but other than that, we should look mostly the same.

Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?

A. This year’s team could be the fastest since I’ve been here. We have some guys who can really run.

Coach’s View
I’m excited about this year’s team. We have a great senior class full of leaders and hard workers. We look forward to competing in our new district. We open in Bear Stadium against Farragut, the defending State Champions, so that should be exciting. Our schedule also includes some old rivalries with Rhea County and Soddy Daisy. We’re looking forward to playing in some great Friday night environments.
