Coach E.K. Slaughter

Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?

A: This will be one of the most athletic teams we’ve ever had at Heritage.

Q: What will be the keys to your success?

A: We’ve lost a lot of good lineman to graduation over the past two years, so it’ll be really important to find some depth up front on both sides of the ball.

Q: Who will be your key leaders on the team?

A: Corbee Wilson (Sr., QB), Luke Grant (Jr., WR/RB/DB), Tanner Nance (Sr., OL/DL), and Dylan House (Sr., OL/DL).

A: Experience at key positions.

Q: What will keep you up at night?

A: Nothing.

Q: What can you build on from last year?

A: We have to find a way to be consistent when we run the football on offense and stop our opponent’s run game on defense.

Q: Any lessons learned from last year?

A: We need to get our kids in better shape and maintain that as the season goes on.

Q: Will we see anything different this year?

A: We’ll be switching from an even front to an odd front on defense.

Q: How would you characterize your team’s speed?

A: This is by far the fastest team Heritage has ever had.

Coach’s View

I believe every game on the schedule is a winnable game for us. It hasn’t felt that way the last few years. It won’t be easy, because we play some good football teams. In order to win the majority of the games on our schedule, we’ll have to play four quarters of high quality football.
