Coach’s Corner
Coach Ralph Potter
Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?
A: We’ll be experienced in most areas.
Q: What will be the keys to your success?
A: Staying healthy is going to be important.
Q: Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A: The leadership of Robert Riddle (Sr., QB) and the rest of the senior class will be very important.
Q: What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A: I think the boys have the drive to do really well.
Q: What will keep you up at night?
A: Our difficult schedule – it will be challenging, and it remains our biggest obstacle.
Q: What can you build on from last year?
A: I think our experience will help prepare the guys physically and mentally for the tough schedule. Most of them have been through it at least once now.
Q: Any lessons learned from last year?
A: Our hope is we will improve on defense and in the kicking game.
Q: Will we see anything different this year?
A: We have a new defensive coordinator, Ricky Ross.
Q: How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A: We won’t be as fast as our 2014 team, but our quickness will be good overall.
Coach’s View
We have to get off to a better start than we did last year against two difficult opponents in Peachtree Ridge and Blackman. The heart of the season will be the four games in the middle – MBA at their place, Blessed Trinity out of Georgia, Baylor, and Ensworth. I think that stretch will determine where we are seeded in the postseason.
