Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?
A: We have an experienced senior class that sets the tone with hard work.
Q: What will be the keys to your success?
A: Playing with discipline and toughness.
Q: Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A: John Higgins (Sr., OL/DL), Hunter Davenport (Sr., FB/LB), Kyle Cates (Sr., FB/LB), and Austin Stephens (Sr., RB/DB).
Q: What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A: This team has a great senior class that leads by example and really cares about winning.
Q: What will keep you up at night?
A: Playing against South Pittsburg in our first game and avoiding injuries throughout the season.
Q: What can you build on from last year?
A: We had a great start to last season, so we need to keep that momentum up and finish the season stronger in 2016.
Q: Any lessons learned from last year?
A: We need to develop more ways to attack opponents offensively and defensively.
Q: Will we see anything different this year?
A: We’ve added to our schemes in all three phases of the game.
Q: How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A: We have more offensive weapons at our disposal this year, and the team’s overall speed has improved as well.
Coach’s View
My team will be much better in year two, but I know our opponents will be better also. We have the utmost respect for our non-region opponents, and our region is also stacked with great teams. We hope to stay healthy and be in the hunt at the end.
