Coach Glen Ryan

Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?

A. This year’s team has a good core of returning players on offense, but we lost most of our skill players. Our defense only has three starters returning, so there are a lot of holes to fill in order for us to be able to compete.

Q. What will be the keys to your success?

WV.StatsA. We must have our younger players step up and fill those voids we have due to graduation.

Q. Who will be you key leaders on the team?

A. Kolten Gibson (Sr., QB), Cody Duggan (Sr., LB), Koby Hooker (Sr., DL), Hunter Raines (Sr., OL), and Isaiah Alston (Sr., DL).

Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?

A. With our quarterback and most of our offensive line back, I’m confident we can be productive on that side of the ball.

Q. What will keep you up at night?

A.  We must get really good defensively, and we only have three starters returning on defense.

Q. What can you build on from last year?

A. This team has more confidence and has gotten much stronger after winning its first play-off game last year.

Q. Any lessons learned from last year?

A.  We need to continue to build and improve every day as a football program. Every game counts.

Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?

A. We lost a lot of our team speed due to graduation, but still have some players who can really run.

Coach’s View
Our region this year only has five teams, but that includes traditional powerhouses like Knoxville Catholic and Rhea County. Our non-region schedule is really tough with Chattanooga Central, Bradley Central, Cleveland, McMinn County, Red Bank, and Stone Memorial.
