Coach Damon Floyd

Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?

A. Young, tough, hardworking, and hungry.

Q. What will be the keys to your success?

A. Staying injury-free as much as possible.

Q. Who will be your key leaders on the team?

A. Returning all-state QB Dylan Standifer (Sr.) and returning all-region LB Hayden Ownbey (Sr.).

Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?

A. The team is working extremely hard with a chip on their shoulder. They’re hungry to be successful.

Q. What will keep you up at night?

A.  Several new faces that have yet to get much action on Friday nights.

Q. What can you build on from last year?

A. We won 10 games and made the quarterfinals in the playoffs.

Q. Any lessons learned from last year?

A. I think every year you learn new things about your team. This year’s team, as with every new season, will bring all new challenges.

Q. Will we see anything different this year?

A. Maybe a couple of players have to play on both sides of the ball.

Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?

A. We have some good all-around team speed in certain spots.

Coach’s View

We have some great opportunities to play against some of the top teams in the state. We have a tough one right out of the gate when we travel to Farragut, and we better be ready to play. Each week brings a new opportunity for our team; there are no ‘gimmes’ on our schedule. We have to be ready to play every single week.
