Coach Bob Ateca

Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?

A. Experienced. We have a number of players who have played significant minutes on field.

Q. What will be the keys to your success?

A. Staying healthy is always a key at a small school.

Q. Who will be your key leaders on the team?

GB.StatsA. Taylor Johnston (Sr., OL/DL), Zac Fisher (Sr., WR/OLB), and Cade Tinsley (Jr., QB/CB).

Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?

A. We have a great staff and committed players.

Q. What will keep you up at night?

A.  Our depth chart. It is always difficult to cover all positions with a small number of players.

Q. What can you build on from last year?

A. Team chemistry. We have a large number of players who have played together.

Q. Any lessons learned from last year?

A. We will need to simplify our scheme both offensively and defensively.

Q. Will we see anything different this year?

A. We always evaluate our players and their position to put us in the best possible position to win.

Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?

A. We will not have a lot of speed, so we will need to make this up by knowing our assignments.

Coach’s View
We are entering into Division II, and our schedule will have many new teams. We have no past experience with these teams, which will prove to be challenging. We also will increase travel with many of these opponents being in Nashville and Knoxville. It will be a new experience and our coaches and players will be expected to rise to the occasion.
