Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?
A. I would characterize this year’s team as experienced. We return 15+ players with a tremendous amount of varsity experience.
Q. What will be the keys to your success?
A. Survive the injury bug and limit turnovers.
Q. Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A. Luke Shiftlett (Sr., QB), Jon Tant (Sr., DL), Tanner Floyd (Sr., OL), Hunter Reece (Sr., LB), Ryan Weeks (Sr., OL), John Conner (Sr., OLB), and Dominique Sistrunk (Jr., RB).
Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A. Coming off of a second place region finish, and we return 15 starters.
Q. What will keep you up at night?
Q. What can you build on from last year?
A. Continue the mentality that hard work pays off in the end.
Q. Any lessons learned from last year?
A. Never underestimate the passing game of a Wing-T team.
Q. Will we see anything different this year?
A. Fast paced spread offense and a solid 4-3 defense.
Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A. Overall the fastest team NW has had in several years. From QB/RB to WR and DB, we like the speed we have.
This year’s schedule is very challenging. We kickoff the year with a very speedy Ringgold team. Next we play at Dalton High, then follow that with a physical Model team. After that, we start region play. I feel this year’s team will be up to the challenge ahead of them.
