Coach Cortney Braswell
Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?
A. This is a highly motivated group of young men looking to improve from an early exit in last year’s playoffs.
Q. What will be the keys to your success?
A. We’ve got to see a change in our team culture from a “me” to a “we” point of view.
Q. Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A. Fred Norman (Sr., OL), Stephon Walker (Sr., WR/FS), Tanner Hill (Sr., QB), and Calvin Dallas (Sr., ILB).
Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A. We’ve got a really talented group of athletes with an undefeated regular season under their belt.
Q. What will keep you up at night?
A. The hump! With the exception of 2012, we’ve made a lot of early exits in the postseason. We are looking to rectify that.
Q. What can you build on from last year?
A. The disappointment of defeat is lingering with our guys. They are motivated to overcome that.
Q. Any lessons learned from last year?
A. The 11-1 just won’t do; there has to be a new effort, a new resilience.
Q. Will we see anything different this year?
A. Yes, there are wholesale changes coming in all three phases of the game.
Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A. We are fortunate enough to have several athletes that can really stretch the field. We are very big size-wise across the board, but we have several individuals who can really run.
Coach’s View
We have an incredibly difficult schedule in the 2018 season, which presents challenges of its own. But like Ric Flair says, “To be the man, you gotta beat the man.” So, we are looking forward to the great opportunities for us to go and compete against the best talent in the state of Georgia.
