Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?
A. Young with some experience.
Q. What will be the keys to your success?
A. If we can remain healthy we will have the opportunity to do well.
Q. Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A. Ty Boeck (Sr., RB/LB), Brandon Davis (Sr., WR/DB), Beau Blaylock (Sr., WR), Jake Seeger (Sr., DL), Hunter Burke (Sr., WR).
Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A. We played a lot of sophomores and freshmen in 2016 due to injuries. Those guys got a lot of quality reps, and if we can put some guys in the right spots around those returners then we will be able to compete.
Q. What will keep you up at night?
A. Depth is always a major issue.
Q. What can you build on from last year?
A. The fact we played so many young guys last year. Graduation did not kill us.
Q. Any lessons learned from last year?
A. Even though we may not have depth in number, we have to build depth by training guys at multiple positions.
Q. Will we see anything different this year?
A. The same as last year.
Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A. Our team speed is average. We have some guys with break-away speed and guys that can stretch the field.
With the guys we have returning in 2017, we are very optimistic. We have a good core group of seniors that played a lot last year. The key will be withstanding injuries and quickly bringing some guys along to get key time during games.
