Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?
A. We have a lot of returners in the offensive and defensive lines, which gives reason for optimism.
Q. What will be the keys to your success?
A. Developing depth in our underclassmen and improved QB play.
Q. Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A. Garrett Raulston (Sr., FB/LB), Cooper Stewart (Sr., OL/DT), Sam Brown (Sr., TE/DB), Grayson Lawson (Sr., OL/DT), and Jabron Hale (Sr., OL/DT).
Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A. Our players have been in a lot of big games and know what it takes to be successful.
Q. What will keep you up at night?
A. The development of our young quarterbacks.
Q. What can you build on from last year?
A. We were very close to playing for a state championship, so I think we will be a hungry football team.
Q. Any lessons learned from last year?
A. Championship level games usually come down to three or four key plays.
Q. Will we see anything different this year?
A. No. We will continue to do what has made us successful.
Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A. Overall, our team speed is very good. I really like the way a lot of our interior lineman can move.
As always, our schedule will be a tremendous challenge since it is once again loaded with bigger schools from larger classifications. Obviously, the opener with Sequatchie Co. on the road will be a huge test, the Marion Co. game is always huge, and the three games with teams from Division II (Boyd Buchanan, Lipscomb Academy, and Goodpasture) will definitely give us a great gauge as to where we are as a team.
