Coach Tony Webb

Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?

A: We’re inexperienced, but we expect to develop through the late summer and early fall.

Q: What will be the keys to your success?

A: Staying healthy as both individuals and as a team will be important.

Q: Who will be your key leaders on the team?

A: Gavin Slaven (So., OL/LB), Trevor Slatton (Jr., OL/DL), and Tanner Hoge (So., RB/LB).

Q: What are your biggest reasons for optimism?

A: We’ve had a change in our offensive philosophy Screen Shot 2016-08-24 at 4.13.11 PMand expect that to help lead to further success.

Q: What will keep you up at night?

A: Nothing. I enjoy being with the team and every day is another chance to get better.

Q: What can you build on from last year?

A: This is a solid young group of kids, and our strength can grow from there.

Q: Any lessons learned from last year?

A: To enjoy the process of a season; try to get better and not worry about wins and losses.

Q: Will we see anything different this year?

A: We’ll be changing our scheme on offense from a spread to the wing-T.

Q: How would you characterize your team’s speed?

A: I’m more concerned with how fast we play rather than our 40 time. For now, keeping things simple helps us play faster. As we become more experienced, the speed will pick up.

Coach’s View

I measure success by our improvement from May 9th when we took the field for the first spring practice to October 28th when we end the season against Sale Creek. Our low enrollment numbers provide a significant challenge to our football program each year, so we try to embrace that challenge with great enthusiasm.
