Coach’s Corner
Coach Scott Cummings
Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?
A: Young and inexperienced, but still fast, athletic, and talented.
Q: What will be the keys to your success?
A: Having a disciplined preseason where players respond quickly to coaching and get physical in the practice environment without injuries.
Q: Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A: Skyler Davis (Sr., WR) and Patrick Dale (Sr., G).
Q: What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A: The team has a solid work ethic and spent January through May in the weight room, so we’re bigger and stronger this year.
Q: What will keep you up at night?
A: Depth – quarterback experience and a young defense.
Q: What can you build on from last year?
A: We had a number of freshmen and sophomores gain valuable experience last season.
Q: Any lessons learned from last year?
A: We have to be more physical and understand the fundamentals.
Q: How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A: Our speed is very good overall. Our running back and receiver speed is well above average, and our defensive back speed is above average.
Coach’s View
We’re still a young team, but we’ve become bigger, stronger, and more talented overall. Success involves understanding what a championship-caliber attitude is, and we’ve made progress with that. After being in Cleveland for a year now, there’s no doubt in my mind this can be a special place for football again.
