Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?

A: These players are team-oriented and willing to work toward a common goal.

Q: What will be the keys to your success?

A: Staying injury-free and having great senior leadership.

Q: Who will be your key leaders on the team?

A: Tyler Thapa (Sr., TE/DE), Trey Holland (Sr., WR/DB), Jamaul Herman Jr. (Sr., TE/DE), and Jordan Williams (Sr., WR/DB).

Q: What are your biggest reasons for Screen Shot 2016-08-25 at 9.41.26 AMoptimism?

A: Many players have been in the football program for four years and they know the expectations.

Q: What will keep you up at night?

A: Nothing.

Q: What can you build on from last year?

A: We want to build on the enthusiasm that we finished with last year and carry those late season wins into 2016.

Q: Any lessons learned from last year?

A: Always go with your first instinct. Also, only surround yourself with people who share the same vision and goals as yourself.

Q: Will we see anything different this year?

A: More energy overall.

Q: How would you characterize your team’s speed?

A: In general, there’s been improvement. We have speed in some challenging skilled positions.

Coach’s View

The kids learned a lot last season, especially during the games we played on the road. Our success will be found on the road again this year. Last year, the team played in some hostile environments, like big stadiums with large crowds, which is hard for visiting teams. The kids know what to expect and are ready for the challenge.
