Coach Bob Ateca

Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?

A: We’re experienced, with a large number of returning starters on both sides of the ball.

Q: Who will be your key leaders on the team?

Screen Shot 2016-08-24 at 3.49.44 PMA: Jared Thompson (Sr., QB/LB), Nathan Merritt (Sr., OL/LB), Brandon Sherr (Sr., OL/DL), Josh Fisher (Sr., OL/DL), Will Edwards (Sr., RB/NG), and Dalton Morrison (Sr., RB/CB).

Q: What will keep you up at night?

A: Our depth, which is always a challenge in Single-A football.

Q: What can you build on from last year?

A: Our goal is to build team unity and become more experienced overall.

Q: Any lessons learned from last year?

A: We’ll need to rely on the basics, like blocking and tackling.

Q: Will we see anything different this year?

A: You’ll see some offensive and defensive changes that will better fit our players’ skillsets. Our special teams will continue to progress with a new kicker and long snapper.

Q: How would you characterize your team’s speed?

A: We’re not exceptionally fast, but we will make up for a lack of speed with a good knowledge of the game and being in the right place.

Coach’s View

Our team will rely on its ability to come together and work as one unit. Our schedule is tough, but we can be successful through hard work and preparation. Our goal will be to win our region and return to the state playoffs with an opportunity to advance further than we have in the past.
