Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?
A. Our team is hungry to prove itself from the struggles in the past.
Q. What will be the keys to your success?
A. Family within our team and staying together through adversity.
Q. Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A. Nyikee Logan (FB/LB), D’Von Maples (WING/LB), Bradley Woodall (WR/RB/CB), Parrish Pacetti (OL/DL), Nick Williams (OL/DL), Trevor Moore (OL/DL), Landon Moore (OL/DL), and Jalan Ledwell (QB/WR/CB).
Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A. The kids are starting to take the off-season more seriously and understand that without work now, we cannot compete later.
Q. What will keep you up at night?
A. Not being prepared enough for the kids and worrying about which team will show up on Friday.
Q. What can you build on from last year?
A. Our offensive line will be our backbone of the team. All have had major playing time in the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Q. Any lessons learned from last year?
A. God has taught me through life that it’s hard, and the ones who are successful are the ones who don’t stop and keep moving forward.
Q. Will we see anything different this year?
A. Offensively we’ll be a mix of old and new this season, and defensively we’ll be more basic and be good at that.
Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A. Speed-wise we’re not the fastest, but we will be the toughest up front with the O-line.
My view for this season is optimistic. I think that the hits we’ve taken over the past two years have put a chip on the boys’ shoulders that I hope they will keep all year. Our schedule is tough – I know on any game day we are able to win or lose, so we have to show up every night and compete.
