Q & A With Coach Andy Scott

lafayette high school football coach andy scott

Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?

A: The biggest difference is our improvement in speed and overall number of players from what we had last year.

Q: What will be the keys to your success?

A: Finding a way to score more points while continuing to play good defense.

Q: Who will be your key leaders on the team?

A: Austin Tucker (RB/LB), Jaden Morris (WR/DB), Chase Hughes (OL/DL), and Sam Hall (WR/DB).

Q: What are your biggest reasons for optimism?

A: We have really good kids who work extremely hard and really enjoy playing football.

Q: What will keep you up at night?

A: Finding quality backups to fill in when needed.

Q: What can you build on from last year?

A: Last year, we lost some close games because we could not either score when needed or get a big stop when needed. This off-season, we worked on being more competitive and finishing all that we do.

Q: Any lessons learned from last year?

A: Winning and losing happens when you can decrease the number of mistakes you make and the ability to take advantage of situations that will help you win.

Q: How would you characterize your team’s speed?

A: We have worked extremely hard to improve our overall team speed and feel like we have done that.

Coach’s View

I believe we can have a good team. Our players have worked hard in the weight room, and we had a great spring practice. Our numbers have increased, and we are excited to continue to build something special here in LaFayette. We have a great senior class that has played together for a long time and knows how to win. We are looking forward to our new region and hope to compete for a playoff spot.
