Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?
A. This year’s team will consist of some returning players with great leadership along with many new faces and names.
Q. What will be the keys to your success?
A. Great leadership, dedication, work ethic, and heart.
Q. Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A. Todd Thornburg (RB/LB), James Beddington (RB/DL), Jacob King (WR/DB), Noah Haney (OL/DL), Gavin Hollaway (OL/DL), Malachi Powell (QB/LB), Tristan Russell (RB/DB), Gabe Smith (QB/DB), Hayden Wolfe (OL/DL), Justin Swindle (OL/DL), Zion Martin (WR/DB), Carson McCammon (RB/LB), Josh Haveman (RB/DE), and Alec Gentry (K/P).
Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A. The process and our leadership.
Q. What will keep you up at night?
A. Finding ways to get the most out of every player on this team.
Q. What can you build on from last year?
A. Confidence, heart, and our great work ethic.
Q. Any lessons learned from last year?
A. We need to win the BIG games. Now that we know what the playoffs look like, we need to go deeper into the playoffs.
Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A. We are as fast as last year. However, we need to be more disciplined. All 11 players need to do their job every play.
We had a great year in 2018, although we fell short of a region championship, which is one of our ultimate goals. We have two tough non-region matchups in Gordon Lee and Heritage, and our region consists of teams like Calhoun, North Murray, and Haralson Co. that are all very competitive. We have continually improved each year in order to accomplish our goals.
