Entering 2007 with three state championships to their name, South Pittsburg set their sights on a fourth, as well as a 26-game win streak. Led by Coach Vic Grider, the Pirates rolled through a perfect 15-game season, defeating five-time state champion Trousdale County, 2006 runner-up Friendship Christian, and No. 2-ranked Hampton along the way.

In December, they capped the season with a commanding
52-20 win over McKenzie for the state championship. Robert Robinson rushed for 204 yards and four touchdowns, while David Jones anchored the defense with six tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.

The momentum carried into 2008 as South Pittsburg won 11 more consecutive games. Terrell Robinson threw for 244 yards and four touchdowns against Tyner, earning the program’s 20th straight victory. As running back, Jones later rushed for 172 yards and two scores in a playoff win over Friendship Christian, extending the streak to 26. The run ended with a 13-6 quarterfinal loss to Trousdale County, but the monumental streak remains part of Tennessee football history.

Snow-covered yard lines couldn’t slow the Red Bank Lions in 2000. Averaging 40 points per game, they won all 15 games, carried their dominance into 2001, and stretched their winning streak to 20.

Powered by running back Gerald Riggs Jr., the Lions became one of Tennessee’s premier teams. Riggs earned Offensive MVP honors after rushing for 209 yards and scoring three touchdowns in the state championship, while Red Bank finished the regular season ranked among ESPN’s national top 15 before storming through the playoffs.

The Lions defeated Oakland, Ooltewah, Bradley Central, and Dobyns-Bennett before facing Riverdale on a snow-covered field. Their impressive offense delivered a 27-14 state championship victory.

In 2001, Coach Tom Weathers celebrated his 29th season with Red Bank, and the Lions added five more wins to their streak. Against Cleveland, Riggs rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns in the program’s 20th straight win. Throughout the season he rushed a total of 1,715 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns, earning him selection into the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and helping the Lions finish second in their district.

After two back-to-back losses in their 2020 regular season, Coach Ralph Potter and the Blue Tornado team decided those would be their last until 2022, resulting in a 19-game winning streak.

Four final victories rounded out McCallie’s 2020 season, capped by its second straight state championship game appearance, where the Blue Tornado defended their title and delivered a crushing 44-0 defeat to Memphis University School. Aided by Eric Rivers’ three touchdowns and B.J. Harris’ 56-yard score, the 2020 team gave one of the best performances in McCallie history.

Continuing into 2021, McCallie won all 13 games in the sea-
son before bringing home their third consecutive title. Facing off against Montgomery Bell Academy, the game resulted in a 28-7 victory, identical to that of their championship win over Montgomery Bell in 2019.

Finishing out their streak in 2022, McCallie secured another 28-7 victory against Chattanooga Christian School and narrowly defeated Woodward Academy 17-13 before the streak came to an end. The Blue Tornado finished the season with a 10-3 overall record.

Undefeated throughout the 2018 season, the Tigers made school history by capturing the 1A state championship and finishing with 16 consecutive victories.

Their season began with a lightning delay that threatened to derail the opener against rival Boyd-Buchanan. After a 1st quarter filled with fumbles, the Tigers changed their stripes. Hudson Petty scored with just 15 seconds remaining in the half and added a two-point conversion, aiding their 51-6 victory.

The offense kept rolling, shutting out Bledsoe County and Copper Basin by 41 and 61 points. Though Coach Randall Boldin questioned how they would fare against Class 3A Signal Mountain, the Tigers won 41-10. Senior running back Josh Wingo rushed for 291 yards and three touchdowns, adding to the team’s 518 total yards.

The Tigers defeated their rival, South Pittsburg, 34-12 before overcoming them again, 34-28, in the quarterfinals. With the win under their belt, the Tigers had several close calls with Greenback (24-21) and Cornersville (7-6), claiming the championship by the skin of their teeth.

In 2010, Signal Mountain was victorious throughout the entire season, including the state championship, earning a 14-game win streak and the designation of one of the highest-scoring teams the Chattanooga area had ever seen. Under head coach Bill Price, the Eagles’ powerful offense aided the team in earning a grand total of 513 points for the season, with an impressive per-game average of 50.

At the title game against Trinity Christian Academy, Trinity’s powerful passes threatened the team’s streak, but Coach Price encouraged them to dig their talons in. Pulling ahead in the second half, the offense racked up a record-setting 688 yards and put 35 points on the board. In addition to breaking state records, the team broke their own with two 100-yard rushers by the end of the title game. Donnie Garner went for 218 yards on 18 carries and scored three touchdowns, while Andrew Price logged 133 yards on eight carries. In the end, the Eagles boasted a 56-28 win.

Under legendary head coach Gary Rankin in 2023, the Buccaneers refused to allow opposing teams to score during the regular season. With shutout games against Chattanooga Prep, Brainerd, North Cobb Christian, and Silverdale Academy, and a near shutout win of 30-8 against Christian Academy of Knoxville, the team was well on their way to advancing to the BlueCross Bowl championship game.

Mid-season, the Buccaneers suffered a temporary setback when one of their nine senior players, Jaylon Sanderfer, tore a ligament in his ankle, but the team kept their chins up and won every game until he returned – securing a 12-game win streak. The semifinals against Davidson Academy threatened to break this streak, but fully-recovered Sanderfer rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns during the second half of the game, aiding the team in a 36-24 comeback win over Davidson.

Though Christ Presbyterian Academy claimed the championship, the Buccaneers celebrated their hard-earned 13-1 record and finished first in Division II-AA East.

Bradley Central entered the 2023 season with high expectations, returning 15 starters – nine on offense – and
featuring Division I commits Boo Carter, Marcus Goree Jr., Tito Williams Jr., and Kaleb Martin. The Bears lived up to the hype, finishing the season undefeated with a school record of 13 straight wins.

They defeated Maryville twice, first by 21-13 in the preseason and 37-14 in the third quarter, led by Carter, who finished the season with 1,795 yards and 27 touchdowns, and Goree, who totaled 70 tackles. In the 20th Great American Rivalry Series, Bradley Central showcased its dominance by defeating rival Cleveland 36-26 in a physical, run-heavy competition that featured more than 350 combined rushing yards. The Bears’ defense stopped a late Cleveland rally to secure the win.

Bradley Central’s remarkable season ended with a 38-17 semifinal loss to Oakland, concluding one of the most successful football campaigns in their school’s history.

Led by Coach Matt Land, the Catamounts finished their 2016 season with an impressive 13-1 overall record and finished undefeated in their region (7-0). The Cats’ historic postseason is credited to both their flash and smash power.

Throughout the playoffs, the Cats’ offense achieved nearly 3,000 rushing yards and kept the team’s rivals on their toes, providing plenty of breaks for their linebackers to pounce. Led by John Wesley Whiteside and Max Mainor, the team’s defense was unstoppable – only allowing for 12 points a game with few teams breaking 100 yards against the unit. Overall, Whiteside and Mainor achieved a combined 76 tackles and 10 sacks on a defense that accomplished 64 tackles for loss and 23 takeaways, aiding the team to take on their biggest challenge yet – the quarterfinals against Coffee County.

Despite Coffee’s spread offense, strong group of receivers, and their 1,300-yard rusher, Demetrius Davis, the Catamounts overcame by 30-28, allowing them to finish first in their region and rank in the top 400 nationally at the end of the year.

After several tough matchups in 2014, the Pioneers ended their disheartening season on a high note with a 42-0 win over Howard. What Coach Tracy Malone and the team didn’t realize was that this momentum would carry into 2015.

The Pioneers opened with wins over Polk County and Brainerd before rallying past Signal Mountain 35-10. Traneil Moore rushed for 132 yards on 17 carries and scored twice, helping the Pioneers improve to 3-0 for the first time since Charles White led the team to a 6-0 start in 2001.

The Pioneers continued to dominate, winning nine straight
regular-season games as Moore rushed for 1,444 yards and 18 touchdowns in less than seven full games. They opened the playoffs by defeating Smith County 35-28, with Moore accounting for five touchdowns. A 28-0 shutout of Chattanooga Christian School extended their winning streak to 13 games before the team lost 55-27 to Notre Dame – finishing off their historic run into the TSSAA Class 3A playoffs.

In 2005, the Fighting Irish literally entered a new playing field, leaving the familiarity of District II-AA behind for 3A Region 3. Though they faced unfamiliar offensive and defensive systems, they rose to the challenge, completing the program’s first undefeated regular season in more than 50 years with a 13-game winning streak.

The season opened with victories over Hixson (20-13) and Howard (14-6), followed by shutouts against Sequoyah (37-0) and familiar rival Meigs County (14-0). Though the shut-out margin was smaller against Meigs, the Fighting Irish significantly widened the gap when compared to their 2004 win of 27-26. Led by linebacker and team captain, Ian Meredith, and defensive end, Chris Harr, their defense allowed fewer than five points per contest, while their explosive offense averaged 30 points per game throughout the regular season.

With Meredith and Harr, Notre Dame continued its defensive dominance during the playoffs, shutting out McMinn Central (51-0), Tellico Plains (56-0), and Macon County (39-0). Only White House came close, falling 14-13 in a playoff battle that crowned the Fighting Irish as district champions. The season remains one of the finest in the program’s history.

The Owls celebrated one of the most successful seasons in their program’s history in 2006, finishing with a 13-1 record. Led by head coach Benny Monroe and assisted by former head coach Ted Gatewood, the team advanced to the TSSAA Class 5A State Semifinals before they were narrowly defeated by Smyrna 28-25.

Despite losing three-year starting quarterback Zack Woods to graduation, Monroe quickly found a capable successor in his younger brother, Jeremy Woods. Under Jeremy’s leadership, the Owls spread their wings and claimed several lopsided victories before surviving a 30-28 thriller against Farragut. Heading on to face Sevier County, Brian Marshall aided the team in a 27-14 win while averaging 128 rushing yards.

In the playoffs, Ooltewah dominated Farragut 42-14 in a rematch before falling to Smyrna, where Jeremy Woods set a school record and threw for 420 passing yards, capping a remarkable 13-1 season after two consecutive three-loss seasons in 2004 and 2005.

In 2014, the Golden Eagles reached the state semifinals for the first time in nearly 25 years. The team finished the regular season 10-0, captured the AAA District 6 title, and ended 13-1 after a memorable postseason run.

Under Coach Mark Pemberton, the Eagles scored more than 40 points in 10 of 14 games, defeating Red Bank (54-7), Soddy Daisy (47-37), and East Hamilton (42-14). They opened the playoffs with a 52-14 win over Tullahoma before dominating in the highly-anticipated matchup against Ooltewah by 47-14, where the Eagles’ defense stifled the Owls. Meanwhile, Jacob York rushed for 199 yards and two touchdowns, while Zach Daoust scored on a 35-yard reception and 79-yard run, and Cody Bice added a 57-yard touchdown run.

A 35-21 victory over Oak Ridge sent the Eagles to the semifinals against West. Trailing 28-0 at halftime, they rallied to tie the game before West pulled away for a 35-28 win, ending one of the program’s most memorable seasons.

Bookended by a regular-season loss to Calhoun and a playoff defeat to Sandy Creek, Ridgeland produced the greatest season in program history.

Led by Coach Mark Mariakis, the Panthers started their remarkable win streak by overwhelming Cedartown, as future NFL star Vonn Bell, Darrell Bridges, and Shaqualm McCoy combined for 345 rushing yards and six touchdowns, pulling away in the 3rd quarter.

After defeating Dalton, Ridgeland routed Southeast Whitfield 42-7 to improve to 2-0 in Region 7-AAAA North. During the game, Bell impressed with an 87-yard punt return that weaved through nine defenders and helped build a 42-0 halftime lead.

The Panthers won 10 more straight games, including three play- off victories, before their unforgettable 28-27 semifinal win over Marist. A late pass interference penalty set up a 24-yard halfback pass from Bridges to McCoy, with the winning touchdown coming with 36 seconds remaining.

Sandy Creek ended Ridgeland’s 13-game winning streak the following week, but the Panthers still finished with school records of 13 wins, 600 points, 5,431 rushing yards, and 73 rushing touchdowns.

Sequatchie County secured its longest winning streak since 1990 by defeating East Ridge 21-14 in the third round of the playoffs.

Entering the postseason, the Indians had won 10 straight games, combining dominant victories with hard-fought finishes. That run prepared them for playoff matchups against Howard, Notre Dame, East Ridge, and eventually, Alcoa.

In their first November game, Sequatchie County overwhelmed Howard 42-6 behind a powerful rushing attack. Austin Stephens rushed for 199 yards on 28 carries, while Hunter Davenport scored five touchdowns and added 133 rushing yards.

The Indians followed with a 56-28 victory over Notre Dame. Quarterback Ethan Barker passed for 93 yards and a touchdown while rushing 13 times for 73 yards. Stephens added 112 rushing yards and three touchdowns, securing the win with a late 4th-quarter score.

Sequatchie County extended its streak to 13 games by defeating East Ridge 24-14 in the third round. The season ended the following week with a loss to Alcoa, finishing an impressive 13-1 campaign and the program’s longest winning streak in more than three decades.
