Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?
A. A tough and physical team with leaders in every class.
Q. What will be the keys to your success?
A. We need to be effective at running the ball and play tough defense.
Q. Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A. Our senior class will set the tone for our team, and we have strong leadership in our junior class.
Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A. We return nine starters on offense, and several backups gained experience on defense.
Q. What will keep you up at night?
A. Our players learning their third defense in three years.
Q. What can you build on from last year?
A. Because we played in our first state championship game, our players have found a new passion for training for the new season.
Q. Any lessons learned from last year?
A. We learned how to be a tough and physical football team.
Q. Will we see anything different this year?
A. We will have a new defense this year.
Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A. Our team is still extremely fast, and we are talented and fast in the backfield positions.
Coach’s View
Being the defending DII East region champions and state runners-up, we are no longer an unknown team to the other DII teams around the state. We now have a target on our backs, and we will get every team’s best effort. We feel confident because we have several leaders from each class working hard and leading our team.
