Coach Ty Wise
Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?
A: Experienced. A number of talented athletes have returned from last season, including underclassmen who gained valuable experience last year.
Q: What will be the keys to your success?
A: We must stay healthy, do a better job of protecting the football on offense, and not give up the big play on defense.
Q: Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A: TaDarrell Hodge (Sr., TE/DL), Collin Weigert (Sr., RB/LB), Charlie Gauthier (Sr., RB/DB), Isaac Green (Sr., OL/DL), Baxter Burns (Sr., OL/DL), Tom Vatter (Jr., QB), Collin Farr (Jr., WR/DB), Sam Gault (Jr., RB/SS), Whit Hunt (So., OL/DL), and Travion Williams (So., ATH).
Q: What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A: We have a strong group of seniors who’ve had a great offseason and are now hungry for success.
Q: Any lessons learned from last year?
A: We lost a number of players to preseason injuries last year, so we decided to minimize unnecessary live contact prior to our first game this season.
Q: Will we see anything different this year?
A: We’ll always try to build our scheme around the strengths of the players we have to work with, and that approach usually leads to change.
Our schedule will be very challenging again this year. We have five tough road matchups. We have some players returning in key positions who should be able to excel in those road games. If we can protect the football and consistently move the chains on offense and prevent the big play and create some turnovers on defense, we’ll give ourselves the opportunities to win.
