Coach Sean Gray
Q. How would you characterize this year’s team?
A. Young and inexperienced, but very fast.
Q. What will be the keys to your success?
A. We must be able to run the ball and play solid defense.
Q. Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A. Zac Cole (Sr., TE), Will Harvey (Sr., C), Ivan Ramirez (Sr., OL), Sammy Soto (Jr., LB), Will Sullivan (Sr., OL), and Christian Gillespie (Jr., RB).
Q. What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A. This will be our fastest team yet at Southeast.
Q. What will keep you up at night?
A. Worried about injuries because we will not have a lot of depth.
Q. What can you build on from last year?
A. Last year was our best season in 32 years. We can build off that success.
Q. Any lessons learned from last year?
A. Great senior leadership equals success.
Q. Will we see anything different this year?
A. Same offense and defense and same coaching staff.
Q. How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A. Both of our running backs run 4.5-second 40s and can squat 400+. Our quarterback runs a 4.6. Our tight end is 6’3” and can catch over people. Our defense will be small but very quick.
Coach’s View
We have some very big shoes to fill this year. We also have a tougher schedule. We picked up an AAAAA team and a 10-2 Cedartown team. But the players have worked very hard in the off-season, and team speed will be a big asset. The backfield could be very special.
