Coach Wayne Turner

Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?

A: This is a young team with plenty of energy.

Q: What will be the keys to your success?

A: Staying injury-free, especially on the offensive and defensive line.

Q: Who will be your key leaders on the team?

A: Shaylan Bailey (Sr., QB), who is returning with a year of experience, and Ke’un Webb (Jr., RB), Screen Shot 2016-08-25 at 10.34.16 AMproviding speed at running back.

Q: What are your biggest reasons for optimism?

A: The experience of our quarterback and having a lot of speed in the backfield.

Q: What will keep you up at night?

A: Worrying about injuries.

Q: What can you build on from last year?

A: Several of our younger quarterbacks and running backs had sufficient playing time last year and gained valuable experience.

Q: Any lessons learned from last year?

A: After experiencing a loss against Boyd-Buchanan in the regular season, it gave us a lot of pride to win a big game against them in the playoffs. We learned that we really can play ball with any team in our district.

Q: How would you characterize your team’s speed?

A: The new running backs are extremely fast, and we have wide receivers that can catch the ball.

Coach’s View

We have a challenging schedule. Our team’s success will depend on how much depth we can develop across both the offensive and defensive lines. We are solid in all other areas.
