Coach Tracy Malone
Q: How would you characterize this year’s team?
A: They’re very close and have grown up around each other, so there’s a real brotherhood in the locker room.
Q: What will be the keys to your success?
A: Being fundamentally sound. We have to block, tackle, and execute on both sides of the ball.
Q: Who will be your key leaders on the team?
A: Kyle Antal (Jr., OL/DL), Thomas Argo (Jr., OL/DL), Aaron Worley (So., OL/DL), Will Carter (So., FB/DE), Matthew Carter (Sr., OL/DL), Austin Nunley (Jr., TE/DB), Seth Cumby (Sr., FB/LB), Dawson Holloway (Jr., QB/DB), Hudson Petty (So., TB/DB), Trace Condra (Jr., TB/DB), Dylan Burns (Jr., WR/LB), Garrett Shrum (Jr., TE/DE), Austyn Vandegriff (Sr., TE/DE), Ethan Slatton (So., WR/DB), John King (So., TB/DB), and Thunder Roberts (So., FB/LB).
Q: What are your biggest reasons for optimism?
A: The team experienced reaching round two of the playoffs in 2015, which should motivate us to get back to the playoffs again this year.
Q: What can you build on from last year?
A: The excitement of a second-round playoff game.
Q: Will we see anything different this year?
A: We’ll change the offense to pistol and defense to 4-2-5.
Q: How would you characterize your team’s speed?
A: We don’t have anybody who can just burn it up, but we have several kids who are very athletic.
Honestly, it’s truly one game at a time. Right now, my attention has been driven towards our season opener at Grundy County. Once we finish our first game, we can begin to focus on our second and so forth.
